Tucked between the Indiana cities of Anderson and Indianapolis is the established community of Pendleton. Pendleton homes have remained a popular place of residence for commuters to its surrounding areas in the Indianapolis real estate market. With the United States economy being affected like it has been in recent years, the number of Indianapolis homes for sale has certainly felt the impact. Have Pendleton homes felt the crunch like the rest of the nation? A recent report addressed just this issue.

The Indiana Association of REALTORS® reviewed the numbers recently for nearly all of Indiana’s counties. What they found, available at Indiana Is Home, is that the amount of home sales across the state are still falling from recent years. The positive news, however, is that this rate is lessening.

While overall, there has been an almost 7% decline across the state, Madison County did only slightly worse than that by dropping 8.3%, or selling 121 homes in July, 2009 versus 132 in July, 2008. The median price of homes sold was a bit worse overall at a 11.9% drop from $73,700 to $64,900. Overall, Madison County, while still declining, is doing no worse than most of other Indiana counties.

Pendleton homes, on the other hand, saw great news from this report. Its number of homes sales increased almost 25% citing 21 homes sold in 2009 versus 17 in 2008. Pendleton is still able to record growth even in our current climate which is great news for the community.
